From Comedy to BIG Business Deals: Kevin Hart at 10X Growth Conference
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to interview some of the biggest celebrities in the world on the Growth Con stage. But this actor, comedian, business magnate, and real estate investor stands out as one of my favorite guests of all time…
Not a lot of people know this, but Kevin Hart is a BIG reason why I even created the 10X Growth Conference.
After seeing Hart put on a massive tour on his own a few years back, I was inspired to do the same.
And in 2020, it all came full circle when he was my special guest on stage.
It was great to sit down with him and find out exactly what he did to gain worldwide success. And although we talked a lot about his acting and comedy career, we also covered my three favorite subjects… sales, business, and real estate.
More Than a Legendary Entertainer: Kevin Hart Interview at 10X Growth Conference
For starters, Kevin revealed what he did for a living before getting into comedy. Surprisingly, it was sales.
“I was the best sneaker salesman in the world,” he told me. Then, he proved it by walking me through his shoe sales process.
Questions. Explanations. Recommendations. All without skipping a beat. Needless to say, Kevin convinced me on the spot.
In Hart’s words, both sales and comedy require you to know how to paint a picture. And after his demonstration, it was clear that showing was one of his strongest skills.
Of course, we also talked business. What I loved here was how Kevin showed the importance of mindset and thinking big.
“Everyone assumes that business is just corporate — an office building and the structure that goes into said entity,” he said. “Business has so many different levels.”
Hart continued with a list of unexpected examples, from selling Girl Scout cookies to being a self-made chef, and even babysitting.
Business is understanding how to create something, own it, and make money from it.
He then shared his own business process in the context of comedy.
A joke turns into a special, then into IP (Intellectual Property) which he can sell and license to platforms for specific periods of time. As a result, he has a catalog that puts him in a position to deal with networks and studios at the highest level.
You now have to respect me as a business.
Finally, you knew I couldn’t walk off stage without getting into real estate.
Both Kevin and I agreed that it’s an investment vehicle in which you know where your money is — in the ground.
Regardless of what’s going on in the world, people are going to need a place to do business, to live.
One of my favorite parts of the whole interview was when he said how Monopoly was a real game. As an investor, your goal is to buy as many properties as possible and get people to pay you for them. I couldn’t agree more.
All in all, my conversation with Kevin Hart at the 10X Growth Conference in 2022 was definitely one for the books.
But I have even more superstar speakers lined up for the next edition in Las Vegas…
